An Atlantic City man with a history of arrests while on parole was arrested Friday with a gun, according to new charges.
Isa Salaam, 22, was wanted in a Feb. 28 armed robbery when police staked out the 500 block of Wabash Avenue, according to the report and court records.
He and other suspects assaulted and robbed a man at gunpoint, Capt. Kevin Fair said.
Detectives Eric Evans, Moustafa Maarouf, Troy Grams and Jesse Oliver-Logan saw Salaam leave his home just after 2 p.m. Friday, and get into a vehicle driven by Jailene Williams.
The detectives stopped the vehicle and took Salaam into custody on the warrant that included charges of first-degree armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft and weapons offenses.
The vehicle was searched, and a defaced gun loaded with hollow-point bullets was found, Fair said. A small amount of Ecstasy also was found.
Williams, 27, of Atlantic City, was then also arrested. She was charged with weapons and drug offenses, and released on a summons.
Salaam's charges also include absconding from parole from March 12, two weeks after the armed robbery.
He was released from Oct. 24, after serving time for drug and obstruction charges.
That was the result of two separate 2023 arrests in the two months after he was released from a previous prison stint on a gun case.
Salaam’s criminal history dates to when he was a minor.
He was involved in a shooting in 2020, and sentenced to a term at the Training School for Boys, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Allison Eiselen told the judge during a detention hearing in 2023.
The incident was not detailed in court, but Salaam would have been 16 or 17 at the time.
A loaded handgun with a high-capacity drum magazine and ammunition was found in the vehicle, police said at the time.
Salaam had an active warrant at the time for removing his ankle monitor, court records show.
He was given a plea deal of three years with one year of parole ineligibility. He was released Sept. 14, 2023
Salaam is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting his first appearance and a detention hearing.
