Five arrested in alleged Atlantic City drug deals

Five people were arrested during an investigation into drug activity in Atlantic City.

Police were conducting a surveillance operation in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue on Wednesday when Sgt. Christopher LoDico saw several people loitering in front of a business appearing to take part in several suspected drug deals, according to the report.

Amanda Santiago, 29, of Atlantic City, walked away from the area and was stopped in the first block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said. She was found with two wax folds of suspected heroin and taken into custody.

LoDico then saw a group of four people take part in suspected drug deals, Aristizabal said.

LoDico, and Officers Robert Reynolds and Dion Liu converged on the group and detained them, according to the report.

Shawnali Muhammad, 20, of Atlantic City, was found with about 80 wax folds or 26 grams of suspected heroin, Aristizabal said. Jaquan Washington , 28, of Absecon, was with about 94 grams of suspected heroin. Dante Braxton, 24, of Atlantic City, had about 20 grams of suspected heroin.

Halim Fisher, 24, of Galloway Township, was found in possession of about three grams of suspected crack cocaine and a digital scale commonly used to weigh narcotics.

The officers seized about $2,523 cash believed to be proceeds of illegal narcotics sales.

All five were charged issued summonses on drug charges.
