[gallery size="large" type="slideshow" ids="6010,6009"] An Atlantic City man already jailed in a string of home invasions is now one of two men charged with felony murder. Ba’shawn Whitted-Scott, 25, is accused in
the Aug. 27 killing of Deshawn Dawkins, 27, who was found shot in the first block of South Virginia Avenue at about 9:15 p.m. He and Brian Richardson, 26, also of Atlantic City, fatally shot Dawkins during a robbery, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. Richardson is still being sought by police. Both men are charged with felony murder, which is a death that occurs during the commission of another crime. They als are charged with robbery while armed resulting in death, conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Whitted-Scott was served the new charges Thursday at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he was ordered detained  in September pending trial in three Atlantic County home invasions. In the first case, Whitted-Scott and co-defendant Sean Temple are accused of stealing money and drugs from three homes, including one in Egg Harbor Township where they allegedly threatened a woman and her three juvenile children with a gun. The woman told police she “believed these men are very capable of killing her and her children,” Assistant Prosecutor Rick McKelvey said at the detention hearing in that case. “They were relentless in their pursuit of money and drugs,” Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury said in granting the detention. Whitted-Scott is scheduled to be before the judge again Wednesday for a detention hearing on the murder charge. He previously served prison time for a gun charge, but has had no issues with the law since 2010, his attorney Matthew Leonard said at the previous hearing. https://breakingac.com/rapper-alligator-owner-ordered-held-pending-trial-in-armed-home-invasions/ Whitted-Scott also was keeping a 3-foot alligator inside his motel room at the Bayview Inn & Suites, which was raided Aug. 15. He was issued a citation for possession of an exotic animal. At that time, another man was arrested. But it was later learned the raid was part of the home invasion investigation.  Some of the stolen items were found in Whitted-Scott’s room, according to the evidence against him. Dawkins was killed two weeks later.
