A man accused of shooting at a car as it drove an Atlantic City street was ordered detained pending trial Wednesday.
Colton Seldon, 30, is accused of a
shooting at a 55-year-old man — identified in court only as J.V. — last week in the 3100 block of Fairmount Avenue.
The man told police Seldon was walking when he pointed the gun and fired. The ShotSpotter audio gunshot-detection system registered the shots and shell casings were found at the scene, according to the charges.
Seldon was arrested about a block away, and positively identified by the victim. No gun was found.
Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury cited the "very serious and dangerous behavior" in denying Seldon release.
But the defendant insisted he was not the shooter, and just got picked up because he was nearby.
There may be video surveillance from the scene. If so, DeLury said the issue could be revisited if the video has evidence the shooter was someone else.
Atlantic City police released information that said Seldon was from Gloucester County. But, in court, attorney Eric Shenkus said Seldon is a longtime Atlantic County resident, having graduated from Pleasantville High School. He now lives in Millville.
