Mays Landing man arrested for violating restraining order in child-luring case

  • News
A Mays Landing man is back in jail after he allegedly returned to the area where he is accused of attempting to lure an 11-year-old girl. Talal Aridi, 35, was first arrested July 15, after he allegedly tried to get the 11-year-old Mays Landing girl into his SUV. He drove up to the girl, and began asking questions,
she later told her mother. “He also took his phone out and took pictures of her as well, then told her to get in his vehicle,” the woman said. “She told him she wasn’t going anywhere with him.” The girl ran to a neighbor, who called 911. But he was also told to stay off of the girl's street. Then, the girl's mother saw him drive past her home as she sat on her porch Tuesday night, she told BreakingAC. "I hopped in my car and followed him as I was on the phone with Hamilton Township police," said the woman, who is not being named to protect the victim's identity. He was picked up at his home in Mays Landing, five minutes from where the girl lives. Aridi is charged with contempt of a restraining order and currently in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, court records show. He also had a charged for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, which the victim's mother was told was marijuana. The mother said she filed a complaint with police, and gave them a voice recording that will be given to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Aridi has a prior conviction related to a 2012 case in which he assaulted a police officer responding to a domestic incident in Linwood, court records show. He did 14 days in jail at that time. In 2016, he violated probation, according to records. It was not clear whether he did any jail time for that.
