North Carolina man charged in Kauffman drug ring released pending trial

  • News
A North Carolina man was released with conditions Friday on a first-degree racketeering charge in connection with an alleged drug ring led by a now-dead doctor and a motorcycle gang. Glenn Seeler, 37, must stay with his mother in Marmora as a condition of his release. Seeler has several health issues, including issues from a herniated disc in 2012, and Type 2 diabetes, defense attorney Timothy Reilly told the judge. He said his client was not getting all his necessary medication in the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Seeler had his first court appearance Monday, after being extradited from North Carolina. He is one of eight people charged last month in an alleged Oxycontin ring where Egg Harbor Township endocrinologist James Kauffman allegedly gave the group prescriptions for pills that were then sold. Kauffman was found dead in his Hudson County jail cell last Friday, in what is believed to be a suicide.
That is still under investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. He allegedly had his wife, April Kauffman, killed when she threatened to expose the venture. She was found dead in her Linwood bedroom May 10, 2012. Alleged Pagan Motorcycle Club leader Ferdinand Augello is charged with murder in that case, along with the attempted murder of James Kauffman, who was allegedly targeted after his arrest. Only Augello was ordered detained. The other defendants have all been released except for Augello's former wife, Beverly Augello, who will have a detention hearing Tuesday. She is accused of taking the money paid for the hit to her ex-husband. https://www.facebook.com/breakingAC/videos/2039027936309561/
