A man wanted for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of copper coil from a Hammonton property.
The went into the backyard of a home on the 300 block of Walnut Street at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, and took several sheets of copper coil worth more than $500, police said.
He then left the property through a dirt road that seems to lead to an open field connecting Walnut and North streets, police said.
At about 8:35 a.m. Sunday, the same man returned and removed more copper from the same property, according to the report.
An off-duty officer saw the man about 100 yards from North Street walking through the same connecting open field toward Walnut Street, police said.
The man walked through heavy brush, causing the officer to lose site of him, according to the report.
On-duty officers searched the area, but couldn't find him.
Police released a photo of the suspect.
Anyone who knows his identity is asked to call Capt. Mark Fiorentino or Sgt. Ed Slimm (609)561-4000, ext. 1.
