New York man pleads guilty in shooting inside casino valet area

  • News
One of two men involved in a shooting inside a casino valet area pleaded guilty Tuesday. George Walker, who lives in New York, said he pointed a gun at Xavier Smith and fired while in the valet area of Tropicana Atlantic City in December 2016. Smith, then 25, was wounded in the shooting that started with a fight inside a club at The Quarter inside the Tropicana, police said at the time. https://breakingac.com/man-wounded-in-atlantic-city-shooting/ Walker’s plea was in exchange for a five-year sentence, which would require he serve at least 85 percent before he is eligible for parole. But the agreement is contingent upon his co-defendant, Eugene Storm, also pleading guilty. Storm, who is from Pennsylvania, is scheduled to be in court May 8, about two weeks before Walker will be sentenced. He is expected to plead guilty at that time, Walker’s attorney John Maher told the judge. The shooting was captured on surveillance video, Maher told Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury. Smith was found lying on the ground near Pacific Avenue bleeding by Erik Fischetti, who flagged down help while capturing the interaction on video that was posted to his atlanticcitycrust Instagram page. https://www.instagram.com/p/BN3pyfVgD7Q/ Walker remains free on bail pending his sentencing.
