Family mourns Atlantic City man killed in Philly shooting

  • News

Antonio Williams “a big ball of light that lit up any room when you walked in,” his family said Friday night.
But early Thursday morning, that light went out.
The Atlantic City man was killed in a shooting in Philadelphia at 2:11 a.m.
Two other residents were wounded.
Shadi Cottman, 27, was shot five times and underwent surgery Friday.
Anthony Allen, 30, suffered a gunshot wound to his hand.
Williams, 35, leaves behind a son and three daughters, and a fiancee who adored him.
“He worked hard to support his family, and was always making sure his fiancee and children had whatever they needed,” the family said in statement to BreakingAC. “He was a family man, who left us way too soon. Please continue to send prayed to his family and four children.”
Williams’ family is now left to mourn just as they marked the second anniversary Wednesday of the killing of another family member.
Carlton Williams, 30, was fatally stabbed in Atlantic City in 2016. A man has been charged in that killing.
That same year, Cottman lost his brother to a shooting Nov. 25, outside the Hamilton Mall. Cottman was wounded in that shooting as well. That shooting remains unsolved.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Williams’ funeral.
“Yesterday we lost a brother, cousin, uncle, father, son and fiance,” the fundraiser reads. “We are starting this go fund me to hopefully raise enough money to have a proper Janazah burial service for our beloved Antonio Williams. ‘Yayo.’”
