A Vineland man was sentenced to 78 months in prison for stealing a car and using it as part of a South Jersey bank robbery spree in September and October 2016, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said Tuesday.
Nathan Wallace, 29, previously previously pleaded guilty to three counts of bank robbery.
Wallace admitted using a tot revolver to steal a 2003 Chrysler Sebring on Sept. 22, 2016.
He also said he drove the stolen car on Sept. 24, 2016, when he robbed a BB&T Bank in Buena Vista Township, where he again used the toy revolver to threaten bank employees and demand money.
After taking cash from the employees, Wallace fled in the Sebring.
He and Quintin L. Jones, 36, of Vineland, drove the car to a Newfield National Bank in Newfield on Oct. 7, 2016, and a Cape Bank in Upper Deerfield Townshipon Oct. 11, 2016, he admitted
During both robberies, one of the defendants used a toy revolver to threaten bank employees and steal money before they both fled in the stolen Searing, according to the charges.
Wallace admitted that he and Jones set fire to the Sebring on Oct. 15, 2016, in order to destroy evidence of the robberies.
Wallace also must serve three years of supervision upon his release.
He must pay restitution of $33,206.
Jones pleaded guilty on Nov. 8, 2017, and was sentenced to 100 months in prison.
