Vineland man sentenced to 100 months in prison for two bank robberies

A Vineland man who admitted to two bank robberies with an accomplice was sentenced to 100 months in prison Wednesday. Quintin Jones, 36, previously pleaded guilty, admitting he and Nathan Wallace robbed the Cape Bank in Upper Deerfield Township of $24,926 on Oct. 11, 2016, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said. A toy gun was used in the robbery by the men, who then fled in a car whose images were cause on security cameras and by an employee, according to the charges and statements made in court. Four days earlier, they used the same car to rob the Newfield National Bank in Newfield, of $5,557. Investigators determined that the car matched the description of a Chrysler Sebring that was stolen on Sept. 22, 2016, during a carjacking in the parking lot of  the Mays Landing Walmart. The two men then bought a gas can at the Vineland Walmart and took a cab to a Wawa gas station near Parvin Park, in Pittsgrove Township, where they filled the can with gas, which they used to set the car on fire, according to the investigation. On Oct. 15, 2016, troopers with the N.J. State Police responded to a vehicle fire in a parking lot at Parvin State Park. After the fire was extinguished, troopers recognized it as the stolen car. Investigators also learned that Jones, who was at a local hotel at the time, was seen putting a large amount of cash in a bag. Jones also admitted robbing Newfield National Bank in Newfield, New Jersey, on Oct. 7, 2016, with the accomplice. During that robbery, Jones and the accomplice stole cash before fleeing in the same stolen Chrysler Sebring. In addition to more than eight years in prison, Jones must serve three years' parole supervision upon his release. He also was ordered to pay restitution of $30,856. Wallace previously pleaded guilty. His sentencing is currently set for Oct. 9.
