Video shows man lying in Atlantic City street being run over by car

  • News

A man lying in the middle of Pacific Avenue was seriously injured when he was struck by a car Thursday night.
The incident was captured on video.
The disturbing scene took place in Atlantic City at about 8:40 p.m. at Iowa and Pacific avenues.
Clarence Johnson, 32, was lying in the middle of the intersection for an unknown reason when he is run over by a vehicle driven by Jia Ou, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Ou, 24, stopped at the scene. He and his passengers were not injured.
Johnson is seen moving as Officer Thomas Gilardi tries to keep him still while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Fair said.
Video posted to Instagram shows the man was lying in the middle of the street, his arms and legs spread out.
“That n---- on the f------ wock,” the man taking the video says. He’s “laying in the middle of the street. What’s up with him?”
Several cars go around him as the man taping and a woman are heard talking off-camera.
“Oh my God, he’s going to get hit,” the woman says right before a blue car comes into frame and there’s a loud crash, and the woman screams.
BreakingAC is not linking to the video due to its graphic nature and out of respect for the victim and his loved ones.
A video posted to Facebook picks up from there.
“How did somebody hit him?” a woman yells. “How?”
The aftermath shows the man lying in the street, blood pooling at his head. A blue bumper from the car that struck him is nearby.
