An Atlantic City man is in jail after he was arrested six times in six days for shoplifting, police said.
Jason Reiner was seen running away from Tanger Outlets The Walk carrying a purse at about 5 p.m. Thursday, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Officer Richard Link circled the block to find Reiner, who he believed had just committed a theft, said Fair, who described Reiner as “a known shoplifter with a lengthy criminal history.”
A concerned bystander stopped the officer, saying they saw Reiner running with the purse and that he had put on a jacket to try to alter his appearance, according to the report.
Reiner, 43, was found at Georgia and Arctic avenues, and taken into custody, Fair said. The purse was stolen from the Coach Outlet.
This was Reiner’s second arrest of the day. He had been taken into custody at about 1:45 p.m. after he allegedly took sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut, also in the Walk. He was processed and released on a summons.
But because of his recent string of arrests, the officer was given permission to charge him on a warrant and send him to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, Fair said.
Reiner also was arrested twice on Wednesday.
First he was detained by Hard Rock Hotel and Casino security for stealing sweatshirts from a gift shop, Fair said. He was arrested again at 5 that evening after he allegedly stole a purse from the Michael Kors Outlet.
His previous arrests came on Sunday after he allegedly tried to steal an I-Robot vacuum from Harrah’s Atlantic City, and Tuesday when he was charged with shoplifting by Hamilton Township police.
Reiner's mug shot shows him with a bandage over his right eye. It was not immediately clear what happened.
