Holy Spirit High School and a nearby daycare center were put on short lockdown Tuesday after shots were fired inside an Absecon home.
Police were called to Marin Drive just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, for a report of gunshots, police said.
No one was injured, but the victim told police that the accused fled running east along West California Avenue, according to the report.
Police did not say whether the victim knew the suspect or even if there was more than one.
Pleasantville police and a K-9 unit from the Linwood Police Department assisted Absecon in checking the area, and setting up a perimeter, police said.
No one was found.
Because it was close to the high school and Giggles & Scribbles Daycare, both were placed on a short lockdown.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Absecon police at 609-641-0667. Information may also be given anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Atlantic County at 1-800-658-8477.
