Mullica man dies after being shot while burglarizing home

A Mullica Township man has died from gunshot wounds he sustained while committing a burglary, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.Police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Moores Avenue for a break-in and subsequent gunshot injury at about 3 a.m. Monday, according to the report.Paul Destefano, 30, was found with serious injuries, and airlifted to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.He died Wednesday, Tyner said.An autopsy is pending.The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.Police know the identity of a civilian involved.The investigation found there is no continuing threat to the community, Tyner said.No charges have been filed at this time.
