The shooting happened on Cedar Avenue off Doughty Road.
Six shots were heard just before 7 p.m.
Police referred all information to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
The office's Major Crimes Unit leads all homicide investigations in the county.
A spokeswoman for the office did not immediately return request for information.
