Stockton University ranks seventh among public colleges in north

  • News
Stockton University is one of the Top 10 public universities in the north, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The university was ranked No. 7 of 62 such colleges and universities, according to the report released Monday.
It also is 15th among the Best Colleges for Veterans, a boost of three spots over last year.
The university has an Office of Military and Veterans Services, veterans lounge and active Student Veterans Organization, a Women’s Gender and Sexuality Center, and more than 200 clubs and organizations.
Stockton prides itself on providing a quality education that is both affordable and accessible to a diverse population of students, President Harvey Kesselman said.
The school ranks 47 in Best Value Schools and tied for 54th for Social Mobility, which measure the amount and graduation rates of students who receive federal Pell grants.
"We recognize the challenges that many families and students face in their journey to college," Kesselman said. "Our priority is to assure that every student has the opportunity to attend and successfully graduate from college. Our ranking reflects that commitment."
Stockton does not require standardized test scores for general admission and has also updated its financial aid criteria to emphasize academic performance in classes, activities and community service.
The university has two distinct campuses, with one in the Pinelands National Reserve in Galloway Township and the other on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Stockton was also included this year in The Princeton Review’s “Best Regional Colleges,” Military Times’ “Best for Vets” and Money Magazine’s “Best Value Colleges.”
