An Egg Harbor Township boy was seriously injured when he was struck by a pick-up truck Tuesday evening.
Nicholas Westphal, 27, also of the township, was heading north on Spruce near Fourth Avenue when he struck the boy, who was walking across the street at about 4:52 p.m., Lt. Robert Gray said.
The 10-year-old walked directly into the lane of travel, according to the report.
The boy, whose name was not released due to his age, sustained serious injuries. He was flown to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
Traffic was detoured for about two hours while the crash was investigated, Gray said.
Traffic Safety Unit Officer Ben Kollman is investigating.
