Wildwood woman allegedly pointed BB gun at police

  • News

A Wildwood woman was arrested after she allegedly pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at police and then fled inside an apartment.
Wildwood police were called to the 4200 block of Pacific Avenue just before 5 a.m. Friday for the report of an intoxicated woman, according to the report.
Kelly Longbottom, 56, allegedly yelled at officers while pointing a firearm in their direction as they came up an outside staircase leading to the second-floor unit.
She then ran into the residence and closed the door, police said.
Officers established a perimeter around the apartment and were eventually able to instruct another person inside the residence to get the gun and throw it out of the unit. That is when police determined it was a BB gun, police said.
Officers then went into the unit, and took Longbottom into custody.
Longbottom allegedly had a suspected narcotic on her at the time of her arrest. She already is on probation for drug cases in from 2014 and 2015, involving oxycontin and suboxone, court records show.
Longbottom is now charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, unlawful possession of a firearm - air/spring/pistol, possession of an imitation firearm for an unlawful purpose and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Her third- and fourth-degree charges were placed on a warrant. She is not jailed.
