Family of slain Vineland girl asks for donations to anti-violence groups

  • News

The family of the 10-year-old Vineland girl who was fatally shot Sunday is hoping her memory will spark donations to organizations working to prevent gun violence.
Jasayde Aide-Lee Holder died July 4, after she was rushed to Inspira Hospital in Vineland following an apparent drive-by shooting at her home.
No arrests have been announced in the killing. Detectives were working to find out who was the intended target.
Jasayde was remembered as a creative girl who created her own animations and short stories.
She "warmed the hearts of those she loved with her pure soul and smile," according to her obituary. "She always maintained her own style and was truly a unique young girl."
Jasayde's funeral is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave. in Vineland.
Those attending are asked to wear green, her favorite color.
A visitation will begin at 3 p.m.
Jasayde's creativity resulted in everything from animations and short stories to gourmet foods using "nature's bounty" from her grandma's garden.
She enjoyed riding her bike, sitting on the swing her grandpa built and being the "big cousin" in her family.
She is survived by her mother, Tashia Evans, and stepfather, Thomas Russell Jr., of Vineland, and her father, Ronald Holder, and stepmother, Emily Hardy, of West Virginia. She also leaves behind four siblings, grandparents and an extended family that includes aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those wishing to contribute to an anti-gun violence cause in her memory can go to Parents of Murdered Children, New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center at Rutgers or Brady United.
