Atlantic City man, 14-year-old charged in shooting of Bridgeton man

  • News

An Atlantic City man and a 14-year-old boy are charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a Bridgeton man over the weekend.
The 35-year-old victim was found wounded in the 400 block of North Kentucky Avenue at 10:29 Monday night, when police responded to a ShotSpotter audio gunshot detection alert, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus with a serious injury that was not considered life-threatening.
Witnesses told police that there were individuals hiding in the rear of a nearby residence, according to the report.
Officer Adrian Nunez-Santos began searching, and saw three males running between yards, Fair said.
Nunez-Santos along with Officers Mailon Demby and Elijah Johnson caught Saalih Davis and the 14-year-old boy.
The Atlantic City teen had two handguns, Fair said. Davis, 20, was found with several bags of heroin.
An investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit led to the teen and Davis being charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy and weapons offenses.
Davis was additionally charged with drug possession, and is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The teen was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Facility.

This story originally ran June 1. It has been updated to include arrests and victim details.
