Pleasantville police is testing its ShotSpotter audio gunshot detection system Wednesday evening.
Controlled live fire from multiple weapons will be discharged at multiple locations throughout the city by the department's Firearms Training Unit, police said.
The shots will be contained within a mobile ballistic backdrop and run from about 6 to 9 p.m.
Egg Harbor Township police communications/dispatch are aware of the locations where the testing will be conducted.
Residents are encouraged to call in any reports of what they believe could be gunfire and those reports will be handled as they normally would.
Any questions can be directed to Captain Matthew Hartman, PPD ShotSpotter coordinator at 609-484-3619.
