An Egg Harbor Township man was indicted on charges of attempted murder and aggravated arson for allegedly setting fire to an Ocean County home when he knew people were inside.
Jamal Preston, 26, is accused of setting the fire at the Lakewood home Aug. 22, while three people were inside.
The occupants were able to escape.
Preston was arrested nine days later at a hotel in Absecon, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.
Last week, a grand jury indicted him on one count of attempted murder and four counts of aggravated arson, Billhimer said.
No motive was given for the crime.
Preston remains in the Ocean County jail.
