A Northfield man was fatally struck Monday night while crossing New Road.
Christopher McFaul, 44, was walking across Route 9 in the area of Banning Avenue just after 8 p.m., Capt. Steve Steinecke said.
McFaul was struck by a northbound 2017 Jeep Renegade driven by Jasmine Trujillo, 25, of Brigantine.
The pedestrian suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Steinecke said.
The road was closed for about three hours while police investigated.
The investigation is ongoing by Northfield Patrolman Herbert Kreuz and Lt. Eric Dettinger, with help from Egg Harbor Township Patrolman Ben Kollman and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
