Police and firefighters helped evacuate four motels along the Black Horse Pike affected heavy flooding from the winter storm Friday morning.
West Atlantic City and Bargaintown firefighters assisted police in getting about 30 occupants safely from the Travel Inn, Travel Lodge, New Sea Breeze and Economy Inn in the areas between Athens Avenue and Bayport Drive.
Several were relocated to other motels in unaffected areas, with the rest waiting in a safe area, police said.
The American Red Cross responded to assess the needs.
Two abandoned vehicles stuck in the flood waters along the pike were towed to the township’s Impound Lot.
The next high tide was expected at 8:15 p.m., with repeated flooding anticipated in the area.
Travelers are advised to seek alternate routes.
No injuries were reported.
