Pleasantville felon admits to drug distribution, gun possession in federal court

  • News

A Pleasantville man shot earlier this year has admitted to drug distribution and possession of a firearm by a felon in federal court.

Clay Brown, 29, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joseph Rodriguez in one count of distribution of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm as a previously convicted felon.

Brown distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl on multiple occasions to a confidential informant, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said.

When Brown was arrested in July, he had a backpack with a firearm inside and controlled substances intended for distribution.

Brown has multiple prior felony convictions that make it illegal for him to possess a firearm. He most recently served time in prison for two counts of resisting arrest, state Department of Corrections records show. He was released in April of last year.

This past April, Brown was wounded in a shooting inside a car in the 400 block of West Delilah Road.

He now faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison, along with a $10 million fine on the drug distribution charge. He faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and $250,000 fine on the firearms charge.

He is scheduled to be sentenced March 21.
