Atlantic City car stops Thursday led to drugs in one case and guns in another, police said.
Officer Giselle Garcia stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of N. South Carolina Avenue Men at 8:46 p.m.
K-9 Officer Jesse Oliver-Logan was called to the scene, and his partner, Gee, gave a positive indication of drugs, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
The driver and passenger were taken from the vehicle.
Police then found about 54 grams of suspected crack cocaine, six grams of suspected heroin and $730 in cash on the passenger, Semaj Poteat, according to the report.
Poteat, 22, of Lawrenceville, Ga., was charged with two counts each of possession and possession with intent to distribute, along with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.
The driver was issued a summons for the driving infraction.
Officer Ivaylo Penchev made a stop at 11:27 p.m. in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue after seeing several motor vehicle infractions, Aristizabal said.
The officer also found that Joshua Ceasar's driver's license was suspended.
Ceasar got out of the vehicle and became uncooperative, trying to walk away, according to the report.
Oliver-Logan and his partner were again called to the scene, with Gee giving a positive indication of drugs, Aristizabal said.
No drugs were found in the vehicle, but there were baggies commonly used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics, according to the report.
Officers also found two Springfield Armory M1 rifles and a large-capacity magazine loaded with .308 ammunition, Aristizabal said.
Ceasar, who is prohibited from possessing a firearm, was taken into custody without incident.
He is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a high-capacity magazine, certain persons not to possess weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with numerous traffic summonses.
Ceasar was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
