EHC teen arrested for shooting at teens walking home in Galloway

  • News

An Egg Harbor City teen was arrested for allegedly shooting at two teens walking home in Galloway Township on Sunday evening.

Two juveniles were walking home when they were “engaged by another group of individuals” also believed to be juveniles or young adults, according to the report.

Shots were fired at the two juveniles as they entered the rear of the Aloe Village Apartments at 1311 Aloe St., police said. They were not struck but at least two residences were hit.

Galloway and Egg Harbor City police along with Atlantic County SWAT and members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office conducted a warranted search Tuesday at a home in Egg Harbor City, police said.

As a result, a 15-year-old boy was arrested. Police said they also recovered .40-caliber handgun ammunition that was consistent with ammunition recovered at the scene.

The teen, whose name is not being released due to his age, is charged with aggravated assault along with weapons offenses. He is being lodged at the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.

"The investigation into this incident was fast moving and the diligence of the investigators, as well as cooperation from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and the Egg Harbor City Police Department led to an arrest being made in just over 48 hours," police said in the release.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is still encouraged to contact the Galloway Township Police Department at 609-652-3705 or Detective Gandhi 609-652-3705, ext. 320.
