An office manager at a Galloway Township orthodontist allegedly stole more than $100,000 over six years.
Suzanne Conover, 49, of Brigantine, was indicted Wednesday for second-degree theft by failure to make require disposition.
She allegedly took cash payments from patients of Geigerich Orthodontics, but instead deposit the money into her own account, often at a local ATM during the workday, according to the charges.
Conover would then log either a credit card or check payment in the ledger, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Her alleged crimes went unnoticed for about six of the 10 years she worked as office manager at te practice.
That was until an office assistant noticed discrepancies in a patient's billing file. The head of the practice then went to law enforcement, sparking an investigation.
It's estimated she stole about $109,000.
The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crime Unit.
