Atlantic City man seen weighing cocaine had gun, police say

  • News

An Atlantic City man arrested after he was allegedly seen weighing cocaine on a porch was ordered held in jail Wednesday.

Christian Parcaro, 49, is accused of having a defaced handgun loaded with a large-capacity magazine when Officers Danish Mohammad and Ridge Gradel saw him while patrolling the first block of South Florida Avenue at 11:11 a.m. Nov. 8.

The officers approached and saw crack cocaine on the scale and that Parcaro was grasping something in his hand, according to the affidavit read at his detention hearing. He dropped the wax fold, which was stamped and determined to be heroin.

Parcaro was taken into custody and the gun was found along with more drugs, according to the charges.

Officers recovered a total of 41 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of heroin and 27 grams of methamphetamine, Lt. Kevin Fair said in a news release about the arrest.

Parcaro has a significant criminal history, Assistant Prosecutor Joseph More argued, noting 14 prior failures to appear.

Defense attorney Yvonne Maher noted that the last failure to appear was 2013 and that Parcaro's last conviction was related to a case from 2014.

He lives with his fiancee in Atlantic City and works as a cook at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Maher said.

But Judge Dorothy Garrabrant found that Parcaro has shown he cannot remain law-abiding, and ordered him held.

He will remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
