Atlantic City officers were able to snatch a distraught man from a parking garage ledge last week.
Body camera footage released Thursday shows the moment Officers Adrianna Petinga and William Harned grabbed the man as he knelt on the corner of the roof's ledge.
"What's your name?" Petinga is heard saying as she and Harned approach the man just after 3 p.m. Sept. 10.
"Just come down to us," Harned says a he goes closer to the man. "Talk to us real quick, alight?"
The unnamed man, whose image is blurred to protect his identity, never turns to look at them.
Seconds later, both officers reach out in unison and pull the man to safety.
"You're Ok. Listen," Petinga says. "What's your name."
"Leave me alone," he says quietly several times, at one point resisting the officers trying to detain hold him and appearing to try to head back to the ledge.
Officers Jorge Cruz, Sabri Drinks and Janicquea Harold then assist with getting him on the ground and putting him in handcuffs.
The man is later seen being taken on a stretcher.
Police remind anyone that needs assistance or knows someone that needs assistance to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text TALK to 741741.
The scene was reminiscent of two previous rescues police had from parking garages in the past several years.
After a few seconds, the man is seen sitting as Knuttel hugs him, with other officers around patting the man’s back and comforting him.
“You’re OK. We’re here for you,” he tells him.
“I love you,” he tells the man a couple times. “We’re going to make sure everything’s OK.”
Falcone was honored for his actions. He later retired and was killed in a motorcycle crash two years ago.
