N.Y. man allegedly used minor to lure sex-trafficking victim to Atlantic City

  • Crime Courts

A convicted human trafficker accused of using a minor to lure another victim into prostitution was ordered held in jail Wednesday.

Tesean Green, 47, was arrested March 23, after police responded to Resorts Atlantic City, where a woman claimed she was being sexually trafficked.

Green allegedly used his grandchild’s 17-year-old mother to get the victim to fly from her home in Louisiana to New York.

The victim, whose age is not given, met the teen through a dating app called Tagged, where the two communicated back and forth, according to the heavily redacted affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.

The girl then sent the victim a ticket to fly from Louisiana to New York.

The teen and her “uncle” — later identified as Green — met the victim at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, N.Y., and then drove her to Atlantic City in a black Mercedes Benz.

Green allegedly offered the victim pills and marijuana on the drive.

Drugs were found in the vehicle's trunk, according to the state.

When they got to Resorts, the victim was taken straight to Room 3817.

There, the victim claims Green tried to force her to engage in prostitution, and an argument ensued when she refused,  the affidavit states.

Defense attorney John Bjorklund said there was no proof Green tried to traffic either female, and that it was Green who called security to have the alleged victim removed from the room.

But when police arrived at the hotel room door, Green refused to open the door “for quite some time” and refused to let the minor speak, Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Remy told the judge.

The public safety assessment used to help determine if a defendant should be held pretrial under bail reform recommended Green be released with monitoring that would require him to check in with the court twice a month.

That recommendation did not take several factors into consideration, Remy said, pointing to Green’s out-of-state ties.

While his home address is listed in Walden, N.Y., he also has addresses in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Freehold, Monmouth County.

He also has a 2011 conviction for human trafficking. He was paroled in 2015, according to information released during the detention hearing.

“A traffic jam in the form of detention is appropriate in this case to avoid the defendant’s flight from justice, the intimidation of witnesses and the obstruction of governmental activities,” Remy told Judge Bernard DeLury.

DeLury agree, saying the public safety assessment did not captured the defendant’s dangerousness.

Green is charged with first-degree human-trafficking, along with promoting prostitution, luring, coercion and kidnapping.

He will remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending the outcome of the case.
