Man kills himself after woman wounded in Pleasantville shooting

A woman is hospitalized and a man dead after a shooting inside a Pleasantville home early Sunday morning.

Police were called to 27 S. Third St. just after 4 a.m. for a domestic violence call, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. They heard gunshots when they arrived.

Tyra Pagan, 26, exited the residence with several gunshot wounds, according to the report.

She was rushed to the hospital, where she remains. Her condition was not released.

Kevin Hare, 38, shot himself moments later, according to the report.

The official cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. 

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and Pleasantville police are investigating.

Hare was a registered sex offender for a case from 2007 in which he assaulted a female acquaintance in Egg Harbor Township, records show.

Hare was sentenced to five years in prison in the second-degree aggravated sexual assault case.

His Megan's Law page listed his address at 27 N. Third St., but police confirmed the address of the shooting as the South unit block.
