Galloway police release photos of skimming suspects

  • News

Galloway Township police have released photos of two men being investigated after a skimming device were found on two ATMs at the Wawa in Pomona.

The store at 275 W. White Horse Pike notified police after the machine's mechanic noticed them while performing routine maintenance, police said.

The devices are attached to where the card is put in to read, and then collects the card numbers and PIN codes to use to created counterfeit cards.

Both suspects entered the Wawa at about 07:39 a.m. Tuesday, and were in the store for a short period of time while installing the skimming device, police said.

They want to speak with anyone who may have been in the Wawa during that time period.

Police provided examples of what these devices look like. They are not from the Wawa ATM.

Police warn anyone using an ATM to check for these parts:

  • Tape and/or sticky glue on any part of the ATM.
  • Bulkiness on the card insert area or the PIN keypad.
  • Anything hanging from the ATM.
  • Wiggle the card slot or keypad for loose-fitting attachments.

Police thanked the staff at the Pomona Wawa for quickly alerting law enforcement, minimizing the amount of potential victims in the case.

Any other local businesses or banks should take this opportunity to check their ATMs for any potential tampering, police warned.

Anyone with information is asked to call Galloway Township police at 609-652-3705.
