Happy Easter to all who celebrate! I hope you took BreakingAC’s advice and made those brunch reservations last week.
For those of you who are looking for a little more than just a chocolate bunny this weekend, there are always a ton of choices in Atlantic City: See a show, hear live music, eat at an extravagant restaurant, go clubbing, relax at a lobby bar or shop at the outlets.
If you are getting down the shore early to beat the holiday traffic, don’t forget that virtually every place in town offers a happy hour.
The hours vary. But they usually fall between 3 and 7 p.m.
It’s a great way to try dishes at a discount from a new place and unwind after a long week. It’s a great way to avoid getting “hangry” at the start of long weekend or the end of a long drive.
Pro tip: the Golden Nugget, Vic & Anthony’s, Chart House and Lillies all have good ones. Menus and hours HERE.
If you are going to be in Atlantic City with little ones this weekend, you can head on over to the Showboat and its new Island Water Park for three days of kids events.
Tickets are available for individual events starting at $30. Or, you can get a pass for the whole event. Information and ticket link can be found HERE.
Now, I was the youngest in my family. And I don’t have kids myself. But I have been called immature. But still, I’ll leave it up to the parents in the room to see of this is a good fit for their family. There’s everything from fashion to Spiderman.
There is UFC fight at Boardwalk Hall.
If you have never been to fight night at this venue, you definitely should once in your life. Plus, this time, there are women on the flyweight card.
A flyweight title shot may even be a result.
You also get to see Vicente Luque battle Joaquin Buckley in this co-main event. Co-main event? Come on fellas. Couldn’t you be on the undercard just this once and let the ladies have center stage … just this once?
I remember going once years ago to a boxing match. I didn’t know a lot about boxing. But even a lay person can feel the energy in the room.
The main event only lasted a round or two before a bought-ending uppercut that caused the fighter on the receiving end to do a plank and fall flat out cold.
Before this moment, I had never seen anything like it aside from the Road Runner doing it to Wile E. Coyote.
You couple something like that within the acoustics and history of Boardwalk Hall, and you have the makings of an exciting night.
Tickets can be purchased HERE right on BreakingAC.
If the slots are living up to their moniker of “one-armed bandits” and you need to take a break, you can always take an easy 10-mile drive to Historic Smithville for the 1 p.m. Sunday Easter Parade.
Smithville has dozens of shops, a Colonial feel and seven restaurants. Parking is free and ample. There’s even paddle boats and a train.
Make sure to see the Villiage Greene Easter Bunny this weekend.
And on Saturday before the big day, one of the eateries — Fred & Ethel’s — is hosting a comedy show.
Turn your Holy Saturday into a whole lotta laughs as A.C. comedians, myself included, take over the tavern. You won’t want to miss this Mike Merk, intimate production with great food and hysterical crowd work.
Comedy tickets HERE.
Comedian Carole Montgomery — the creator of "Funny Women of a Certain Age" — is going to be at The Borgata Comedy Club this weekend.
You can take in a show at the Music Box from a comedy veteran who has entertained the troops and audience members from coast to coast.
Tickets HERE.
March is definitely going out like a lion this year. But spring is in the air. And a weekend of excitement is on the horizon.
Hop on down!
