A New York couple accused of killing a man during a robbery were indicted Thursday.
Howard Griswold, 24, and Melissa Tikaram, 28, face murder and other charges in the Jan. 20 killing of Christian Hunter, 32.
Hunter was found shot multiple times in the area of 119 N. Virginia Ave. at about 7:19 p.m., after a ShotSpotter alert brought police to the area.
He was unresponsive when he was found, with his pockets turned out and his cell phone missing.
When friends called the phone after the shooting, a man believed to be Griswold answered, according to the affidavit of probable cause previously obtained by BreakingAC.
Surveillance captured Hunter leaving his house and walking a short distance before two gunshots were heard.
A man's voice is heard saying, “Give me that shit," and then a Nissan Rogue is seen fleeing the scene, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Tikaram was recorded on surveillance driving the Nissan with a passenger in the vehicle following the killing, the state claims.
Griswold was staying in a room at Resorts registered to Tikaram. The suspect Nissan was found in the Resorts parking lot.
Phone records indicate that Tikaram was in contact with the victim immediately before he was shot. Phone records also indicate an ongoing relationship between Tikaram and Griswold.
Both were arrested in Syracuse, N.Y., 11 days apart. They are now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where they have been since their extraditions in February.
