Atlantic City shoplifting suspect had drugs and loaded gun, police say

An Atlantic City man is jailed after he was found with a gun after he was stopped for shoplifting, police said.

Officers Bao Pham and Matthew Crosby were called to the Bass Pro Shop for a shoplifting call at about 11:30 Wednesday morning, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

Tueta Kupi, 33, was stopped by members of the Tanger Outlets security team and found with the item stolen from th store, according to the report.

He also had a loaded handgun, 23 individual bags of heroin, a small amount of methamphetamine and numerous prescription pills, the report states. 

Kupi also had a clothing item from a second store that was later determined to be stolen, Fair said. 

He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, shoplifting, receiving stolen property, four counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kupi is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a hearing.
