Atlantic City mayor celebrates Super win with son

  • Atlantic City

Atlantic City's mayor said he has a new name.

"Call me Super Bowl Small," Mayor Marty Small said in a call with BreakingAC as he prepared to board a plane home from New Orleans where he watched his beloved Birds win their second Super Bowl.

Small was in Arizona when the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago.

"I was devastated for months," he said.

It didn't help that it was three hours to get an Uber back to the hotel.

Small decided that next time, he would take his son.

So he and Marty Jr., a freshman at Atlantic City High School, headed to New Orleans this past weekend, and were treated to a game that never left the winner in doubt.

"I said we were going to destroy the Chiefs and begin an Eagles dynasty," he said.

His prediction of a 37-20 win was not far off the real deal: 40-22.

Small said the players were not staying in the area, but Marty Jr. was able to meet some celebrity athletes and favorite streamers.

"That's what it's all about," Small said. "It made his day."

When asked how he was able to score ticket, Small said he's an Eagles season ticket holder.

"It isn’t about me, it's about providing him (Marty Jr.) with a great experience," the mayor said.

"I told him, 'Remember this when it's time to do the same thing for your son, and do it.'"
