Atlantic City police arrested a Vineland man armed with a gun after he allegedly fled the scene of a shooting Friday.
Police were called to the Fox Manor in the 2700 block of Pacific Avenue for a man shot shortly after 1 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
The 22-year-old victim, an Atlantic City resident, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus and later transferred to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.
A resident notified Detective Jaimee Moore that the suspect, Leon Green, was walking on the north block of Iowa Avenue, Fair said.
Sgts. Dean Dooley and Charles Stuart found Green near the Public Safety Building and arrested him without incident.
A loaded handgun was found in Green’s waistband, Fair said. He also was in possession of 47 grams of heroin and 5 grams of cocaine.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Green also shot at a second male, but did not hit him, according to the report.
Green, 27, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute within a school zone.
Green was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
