Pleasantville man pleads guilty to gun charge

  • News

A Pleasantville man admitted to illegally possessing a firearm while he was on parole.

Rasul Palmer, 31, was served with a temporary restraining order May 24, 2022.

The victim told police Palmer had a black gun that would likely be at his home or in his vehicle, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

A 9mm Ruger Model P98 semi-automatic pistol was found during a search of his West Leeds Avenue apartment.

Palmer already had been arrested on a violation of his parole.

He had been released from prison exactly three years earlier, state Department of Corrections records show, having served a seven-year sentence in a robbery case.

Palmer was sent back to prison on the violation.

He faces a five-year term for the second-degree possession of a firearm by a certain person.

Palmer is set to be sentenced July 18.

He is currently in Bayside State Prison.
