An Atlantic City 13-year-old allegedly stole his teacher's car and two took friends on a ride this week.
Police were called to the New York Avenue School at 5:10 p.m. Thursday after the key had been removed from the teacher’s key chain, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers called the Mercedes Benz Corporation to get a GPS location, which put the car in the 1100 block of Commodore Avenue, according to the report.
Officer Armani Rex found the vehicle, and saw three teens leaving it.
Seeing the police car, the teens run.
Rex arrested a 16-year-old boy. Detective Garry Stowe caught a 17-year-old male, who was found to have marijuana in his pocket during a search.
As Rex was going back to his car, he found and arrested the 13-year-old driver.
He had the keys of the owner, who is his teacher.
The 13-year-old was charged with receiving stolen property.
The other two teens were charged with joyriding.
The 17-year-old was additionally charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute CDS within a school zone.
All three teens were released to a parent or guardian.
