An Atlantic City native was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight in Georgia, according to police.
Ernest Tyrrell Bing, 40, was shot at about 11:45 p.m. Friday at a Texaco gas and food mart in Clarkston, Georgia, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Bing, who was living in Alpharetta, Georgia, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Another patron not involved in the fight was shot in the arm. He has been treated and released.
A news release put out by the GBI said only that the fight between two men "escalated to involve a third party" identified as Bing.
The GBI also released still images from surveillance footage of a man they say “was present during the altercation (and) has pertinent information” in the case.
While he is not named as the shooter or having been involved, the public is warned not to approach or attempt to contact the man.
No further information is being released at this time, GBI spokesman Bahan Rich told Breaking AC.
But Clarkstown police labeled Bing a “good Samaritan” who was trying to break up the fight,
according to a report by WSB-TV Atlanta posted early Saturday morning and shared on Facebook by many of Bing's Atlantic City area friends and family.
Bing grew up in Atlantic City’s Back Maryland section, which he honored in the naming of his music production company, Eight72.
His address growing up was 872D N. Maryland Ave., he explains in
a YouTube video.
“It wasn’t the projects for me, it was a community,” he said in the video. “It allowed me the ability to dream bigger than what I saw.”
Bing leaves behind a wife, Tamika; three sons, Azaiah, Mahir and Munir, and a stepdaughter, Nyjah. A service at the All Wars Memorial building is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
