Atlantic City will have two testing sites, including a walk-up site, Mayor Marty Small said Thursday.
Small took to Facebook Live to update residents on what’s going on with the battle against COVID-19.
Plans include virtual recreation for the city’s kids and hot meals for its seniors.
Beginning April 27, a partnership with the CRDA and Mike B’s will bring at least two hote meals a wekk to seniors in the city’s low-income disabled buildings, Small said.
The meals will be from Monday through Saturday, totaling 3,780 meals each week, he said.
Residents also will be getting an answer to requests for a closer testing site than the one currently at the Hamilton Mall.
Bader Field will be a drive-thru site, Small said, utilizing the area he pushed for at the county’s site.
That will be open two days each week, although a schedule is still in the works.
In answer to those who are without vehicles or don’t drive at all, there will be a walk-up site in the parking lot of the Showboat, he said.
He is hoping to have those opened by April 27.
Small also said his executive order closing down all Airbnb’s and motels do not affect those living in motels long-term as residents.
The mayor said he knows that some are still trying to rent homes, and that anyone who sees this happening should call Licensing and Inspections at 609-347-5290.
As for the homeless in the city, he said the first step is to get them out of the city and then get them help. The goal, he said, is to return them to their homes.
