Positivity wins as Atlantic City basketball tourney begins second season

  • News

An Atlantic City basketball tournament that started amid tragedy was full of positivity as it opened its second season this weekend.

The Stay Hungry Sports Stop the Violence Basketball Tournament had a brand new setting after the Atlantic City Arts Foundation painted the Lagoon court at Venice Park.

Capturing each game via drone will be DougieStylePhotography, who captured most of this year's debut.

The group was inspired by last year's debut tournament, Arts Foundation Program Director Zack Katzen said.

"We wanted to give them a court equally as great as the tournament," Katzen told Michelle Tomko of Tomkomedy.

The tournament began last year after a deadly start to the summer that included the killings of three young people.

"I wanted to give back the way things were given to me," said Stay Hungry Commissioner Jason Lantz.
The games will be every Saturday.
