AtlantiCare announces first COVID-19 patient

No details were released about the patient at the Galloway Township hospital

A patient at AtlantiCare's Mainland Campus has tested positive for the coronavirus.The hospital announced its first case Friday, saying it was at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus in Galloway Township."We are bound by patient confidentiality and cannot provide additional details at this time," the hospital said in a statement.This is in addition to the three cases already announced in Atlantic County.AtlantiCare is taking all necessary precautions to reduce the spread of the virus and ensure the safety of patients and their families, staff and providers, and the community, according to the release. Guidelines are in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New Jersey Department of Health on how to care for patients at this time.Anyone visiting a medical setting for flu, flu-like illnesses or coronavirus, people are asked to call their primary care provider, pediatrician or urgent care provider.
