EHC man given probation in June arrested in A.C. Boardwalk killing

  • News

An Egg Harbor City man who pleaded to robbery last summer is now jailed in the killing of a man on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Eric Wynn, 34, of Atlantic City, was found shot by officers who responded to the 1900 block of the Boardwalk near Johnny Rockets.

Jahlil Boston, 34, was arrested within minutes, still in possession of a loaded semi-automatic firearm, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Prosecutor William Reynolds credited the work of Atlantic City's surveillance center, where retired Officer Shawn Steuber worked to help lead Officers Dylan Imbrenda and Michael Peters to the suspect's whereabouts.

"The swift arrest of this suspect is a testament to the professionalism and preparedness of the officers of the Atlantic City Police Department and represents the benefits of our investment in technology," Chief James Sarkos said.

Wynn and Boston were acquainted, and the shooting was not random, according to the prosecutor.

Boston recently pleaded guilty to an Atlantic City robbery from September 2021.

In that case, Boston went into the Best Western, threatened employees and then forced his way behind the counter. He was sentenced to five years' probation in June.

He now faces charges of murder, weapons offenses and drug possession, after Boston was also found with cocaine.

He will be held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.

Boston served more than four years in prison for a 2010 robbery charge, Department of Corrections records show. He was then sent back in 2016, and again in 2018 for violations.

He maxed out of his sentence Oct. 31, 2019.

It is the second fatal shooting in the resort in just more than 27 hours.

A Mercer County man was killed Thursday night in the first block of South Texas Avenue.

Both cases are being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and Atlantic City police.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-909-7800. Information may also be given anonymously online at www.acpo.org/tips.html or via Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234 or online http://www.crime stoppersatlantic.com.

Information also may be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.

(NOTE: This story has been updated to clarify Boston's prison terms.)
