A Mays Landing woman allegedly admitted to fatally attacking her longtime boyfriend Sunday inside the home they shared.
Police were called to the Lewis Drive home at 5:39 p.m. by a neighbor, who said Eileen Bright admitted to killing Gary Johnson, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.
Johnson, 81, was found covered in blood with injuries to his head in the first-floor master bedroom, the affidavit states.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and then taken to the morgue by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause of death was blunt-force trauma and stab wounds, according to the autopsy.
Bright, 75, was taken to the Hamilton Township Police Department, where she waived her Miranda rights, and admitted to killing Johnson, the affidavit states.
She is charged with murder and weapons offenses. The charges indicate a knife and a statue.
Bright was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility early Monday morning.
She was scheduled to have her first appearance Monday afternoon, but did not due to being under mental watch, according to what was said in court.
She does not appear to have a criminal history.
The investigation is ongoing.
