Heavy Rain From Debby at Shore

Impacts will include soaking rain and strong winds. (Courtesy of AccuWeather)

The remnants of Tropical Storm Debby are expected to impact the shore region starting late Thursday night, with the most significant effects anticipated on Friday and Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will move inland tonight or Thursday. It is forecast to merge with a front as it reaches our region to produce heavy rain.

The magnitude of the impacts locally later Thursday night and especially Friday and Friday night will depend on the exact track. However, a more inland track is looking more likely, according to the forecast.

There will be a period of stronger south or southeast winds mainly for the coastal counties Friday, with wind gusts of 30-45 mph possible.

In addition, a Gale Watch remains in effect for Friday and Friday night for the New Jersey and Delaware coastal waters. A moderate to potentially high risk of dangerous rip currents will continue through Friday for the Jersey Shore beaches
