Cool ocean breezes and the sounds of seagulls will form the backdrop for two special Shabbat services to be held on the beach this summer.
Beth Israel Synagogue of Northfield will hold the first service at 5:30 p.m. this Friday on the Huntington Avenue beach.
Another service is planned for the same time Aug. 23.
Bring a beach chair and come in your flip-flops to dip your toes in the sand as you chant the familiar Shabbat melodies led by Rabbi Michael Feshbach. Families are welcome.
In the event of inclement weather, services will be held at Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield.
Beth Israel was the first area congregation to offer services on the beach, which has become an annual tradition for 30 years.
Beth Israel, the largest Reform congregation on the mainland, is a full-service congregation that welcomes diversity, interfaith families, LGBTQ Jews and partners, Jews of color, and all types of modern Jewish families, wherever they may be found on their personal Jewish journey.
