Charges: Four juveniles and four adults assaulted Atlantic City police during fight call

  • Crime-Courts

Four adults and four juveniles were charged with assaulting Atlantic City police officers during a fight call to Bungalow Park last week.

Police were called to the 400 block of North Delaware Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday for a large group fighting outside, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

The group was mostly female, according to the report.

As officers tried to intervene and make arrests, they were assaulted by those interfering, Fair said.

Three arrests were made at the time.

An investigation by patrol and the Criminal Investigations Section identified five females who interfered, Fair said.

They were criminally charged and arrested throughout the week.

Amanda Bethel, 32, of Mays Landing, and Queenetta Gilliard, 33; Sadiyah Gilliard, 25, and Mya Spellman, 24, all of Atlantic City, were sent to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

A 14-year-old, 13-year-old and two 12-year-olds all from Atlantic City were released on summonses.

“The Atlantic City Police Department will use all resources at our disposal to hold accountable anyone who assaults or attempts to assault our officers during the performance of their duties,” Chief James Sarkos said.  “I want to commend all of the officers involved in this investigation and subsequent arrests on a job well done.”
